Cathy Geier's Strip Piecing Applique Class
Twenty guild members took Cathy Geier's Strip Piecing Applique Class on July 12, 2017. She was a fabulous teacher, going from quilter to quilter throughout the day, making sure that everyone understood the concept, and helping with design decisions. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, Cathy! Here's a photo of Cathy holding one of her quilts, followed by three happy students.
July 2017 - Block of the Month
Many thanks to Dorothy and Darlene for presenting twelve Blocks of the Month during the past year. Here is Dorothy with the original BOM quilt, along with three more finished projects.
July 2017 - Cathy Geier from Patchworks that Praise
Cathy Geier presented her quilt story with us in July 2017. We could relate to her humorous journey as she described how she got into quilting until they took over the house. She shared many of her beautiful quilts with us that use the strip applique piecing method. Here a just a few of them.
The Quilt Cult visited in March 2017
The Quilt Cult is a small group of gals who took a one-and-a-half day class at a quilt shop in Willmar many years ago. They thought they'd be going home from the class with quilts but all they had to show for the day were 15,000 pieces they had cut! Since then they've met regularly to sew, exchange blocks, and share the fun of quilting. "We have a fantasy that we're getting rid of stash," one member said, making the entire room laugh. Their name came from someone's son, who when he heard about the women meeting to sew, said, "what is it, some kind of cult?" Whatever it is, the quilts they shared with us are gorgeous, and here are just a few.
