August - Annemarie Yohnk "Quilts Remembered"

Annemarie Yohnk from "Quilts Remembered" was our August speaker. "Redwork in the Beginning" was the lecture. People of all ages have enjoyed Redwork as a pastime from the late 1800s to the late 1930s.  Annemarie gave a fabulous trunk show of these embroidered pieces of art.  We left with a new appreciation of Redwork and hints/tips on what to look for when collecting your own pieces.

You might remember Annemarie Yohnk from "Quilts Remembered". She was here July 2013. You can check out that blog post by clicking here.

This is our second block of our new block of the month project created by Sharon Banister.
Here is the pattern for the second block.  Click on the photo of the pattern to make it larger.

Deb's show and tell included a quilt made by her children for her 60th Birthday.
Laura's gorgeous and huge king sized quilt and a locker hooked rug that she received a ribbon from at the Kandiyohi County Fair.
Jan's fun cabin quilt is made out of flannel and the leaves are appliqued.
 Ramona's wonderful modern quilt.
Anna's original design quilt received a blue ribbon at the Kandiyohi County Fair.
Leah showed this fun quilt and explained how she is not enjoying sewing the binding on.
Smitty's finished block of the month that Pat demonstrated. Love the layout of this.
Sharon's tablerunner she made for her mom's birthday.  She quilted a doily in the middle.  What a fun creative idea.
